The main function of these units was to support testing services by moving around and to provide testing in various locations. The units where located in Aberdeen, Telford, Brent Cross and Newbury, with the Aberdeen unit moving around the Scottish Highlands to provide testing in the remote locations. The labs where split into two sections with worktops on each side and specialist testing equipment in the center.
The equipment on board ensured safe processing of samples for testing and integration of automated process allowing for testing place at scale with a quick turn around of results. During an initial trial, Oxford Nanopore could test more than 2000 samples in a day using a mobile test vehicle.
Special Event Services have also provided full operational management of the laboratories including transporting technicians to the laboratories using a fleet of people carriers.
